Brief Biographical Sketch:
Shannon P. Bartlett is the Associate Dean, Inclusion & Engagement, at the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. She also teaches a seminar at the Law School, Free Speech on Campus. Dean Bartlett’s primary areas of interest center on the unconscious ways diversity and culture impact our everyday decision-making and interactions, as well as how to effectively balance the goal of inclusion with the development of an intellectually diverse community. Shannon earned her B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis, her J.D. summa cum laude from the DePaul University College of Law, and an M.A. in Jurisprudence and Social Policy from the University of California, Berkeley. In this session, we will explore the intersection of hip-hop music and the law. We anticipate lightly covering the topics of free speech, intellectual property, and criminal law. We look forward to exploring our love of music and the law with you on this fun detour into some of the more interesting litigants to find themselves in our state and federal courts.
