H40: The Media of Genocide: An Exploration of Darfur in Splash 2010 (Apr. 03, 2010)
Ever heard of Save Darfur? This interactive and informative class addresses how American media portrays the genocide in Darfur, Sudan. We will present an overview of the conflict and explore different ways US news sources either distort or exploit what is happening in order to hook their readers. We will examine the impact media has on the public's opinion of Darfur and analyze how sensationalism and media bias distort the public's view on genocide.
