Brief Biographical Sketch:

I'm a 5th year graduate student at Northwestern studying how proteins function. I was born and raised in Oklahoma and got my undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University in biochemistry (after changing my major 5 time). I love the outdoors and worked part-time as a wilderness guide in undergrad. In my free time I enjoy playing chess, reading books, *trying* to dance.

S507: Evolutionary Oddities in Splash 2020 Fall (Online) (Nov. 14, 2020)
What connects whale feet, nylon munching bacteria, and our own broken sense of smell? The theory of evolution! It is a popular topic these days and lots of people have something to say about whether or not they think it makes sense. But life itself also has something to say about its past and what it has to say is very strange. In this course we look at many of the biological oddities that suggest that evolution explains the diversity, and weirdness, of life.
