Brief Biographical Sketch:
Javiera (she/her) was born and raised in Santiago, Chile and is currently at Northwestern University pursuing a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, specialising in Nanotechnology and Molecular Engineering, and an IMC certificate. Since being introduced to research as a high school student, her interests have invariably led back to sustainability. She is part of the Swearer Lab where she is involved with research developping synthetic methods for plasmonic copper nanoparticle-based catalysts and studying their (photo)chemical properties. Besides STEM, Javiera has been involved in music for years as a pianist and experienced vocal performer. Come learn about the copper extraction process in Chile, the largest producer in the world, directly from someone who has known about it since birth (take the class to find out what that means!)
