Brief Biographical Sketch:

Hi! I’m Erin, a senior/master’s student in materials science and engineering at Northwestern. I like stuff, and I like shiny things, so I’ve spent my undergraduate years doing research metallic materials with a focus on aerospace applications. I’ve worked on the rocket engines that will take our astronauts back to the moon on the Artemis missions! Science is cool, and I enjoy getting to share that joy with others.

S680: The Science of Stuff: An Introduction to Materials Engineering in Splash Spring 2024 (May. 25, 2024)
What makes a rubber band stretch? How does a nonstick pan becomes non-sticky? Why is stainless steel stainless? What makes materials look and perform the way they do? Join us for an adventure through introductory and interactive concepts of materials science, where you’ll learn just how all this stuff works.

A559: Drawing the Human Form in Splash 2022 (Apr. 02, 2022)
Ever wondered why your drawings of people don't come out looking quite right? Why even your simplified style seems a bit off? Want to improve your technical skills in drawing? This is the class for you! This class will be focused on realism in graphite, charcoal, and pen. We will tackle both the human body and the face as we practice line strength, exaggeration, and anatomy. We will work with a (clothed) live model as we explore motion and proportion. All supplies will be provided, just bring yourself and a willingness to create and learn!
